To become a professional mountain-walking guide and provide hiking services on any mountain in South Africa, one must complete training that includes both theoretical and practical examinations and then register with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT). 

A hiking adventure requires more than just enthusiasm; it demands thorough preparation and knowledge. While experienced hikers may have valuable insights, professional guides are specifically trained to prioritise safety, recognise risks, and make crucial decisions for their guests' wellbeing. A professional guide enriches every hike with their expertise, from engaging storytelling to identifying unique flora and fauna. Additionally, navigating trails can be challenging, especially for those who might rely on apps that may fail in remote areas. Hiring a certified guide ensures a safer, more enriching experience in our breathtaking landscapes, blending passion with expertise to create unforgettable journeys.

Wear comfortable weather-appropriate clothing, preferably active wear (moisture-wicking fabric is ideal), layering is highly recommended. Sturdy footwear is a necessity. 

Bring a backpack with water, snacks, and sun protection.
